Addison, the daughter of Adrienne Kemery and Brock Kemery, is a 2024 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is in her second year of an Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing at North Central State College.

What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?

"College is often described as one of the most transformative and memorable periods in a person's life. For me, the most rewarding aspects of college life are the opportunities to meet new people and to learn about the career I hope to pursue. These two elements have not only shaped my academic experience but also contributed significantly to my personal growth and future goals."

What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?

"College has opened my eyes to many new interests and opportunities, but the most exciting discovery has been how much I love my nursing classes. Coming into college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, but I didn't fully understand how passionate I would become about nursing until I started taking the core classes. These courses have not only confirmed that I chose the right path- they've also introduced me to a whole new world of skills, knowledge, and hands-on experiences that I truly enjoy."

In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?

"My college experience has changed me in ways I never expected. It has helped me grow not only academically, but also personally and professionally. One of the most important ways it has improved me is by building my confidence, both in my abilities as a future nurse and as an individual navigating adulthood. Managing a full college course load while working two jobs has pushed me to become more disciplined and organized than ever before. One of these jobs is in the healthcare field, and it has been especially valuable in giving me real-world experience that connects directly to what I'm learning in my nursing classes. Being able to apply classroom knowledge in a work setting has deepened my understanding and strengthened my passion for becoming a nurse. It also reminds me every day why I chose this path and motivates me to keep going, even when things get challenging."

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

"Enjoy the journey and be open to growth. You'll discover new interests, meet people who inspire you, and gain confidence in ways you never expected. Embrace the challenges, they're what help you grow. And remember, it's okay not to have everything figured out right away. You're learning, and that's the whole point."

What is one item on your bucket list and why?

"One of the top items on my bucket list is to visit the breathtaking island of Bora Bora. Known for its crystal-clear waters, overwater bungalows, and tropical scenery, it's the kind of place that feels like a dream. When I imagine being there, I see myself taking part in all the amazing excursions the island has, from snorkeling and jet skiing to taking boat tours around. I want to explore the coral reefs, swim with the colorful sea life, and just float in the warm, clear ocean. The water is so stunning in pictures that I can only imagine how beautiful and peaceful it would be in person."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Addison!
