Autumn CoverThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Autumn Cover, a 2025 recipient of one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards and the Nancy Angene Johnson Scholarship award.

Autumn, the daughter of Carla Schafer and Brad Schafer, is a 2022 graduate of Wynford High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center. She is in her first year of a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education at The Ohio State University- Marion.

What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?

"My favorite aspect of college life is learning about and doing something I love but still having time for family. My family is really important to me and has just recently grown when I married my best friend in September. This not only made my family bigger but also grew my support system through this journey. The college I chose allows me to see my family and grow to succeed in my dream career."

What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?

"One new course of study that I have grown interested in is history. I am now minoring in history, and I never thought I would want to because I thought it wasn't something that I was good at. However, OSUM has given me new opportunities to expand my knowledge and my interest."

In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?

"College has taught me so many different things, not just academically, but in life, too. It has taught me the importance of work/life balance, organization, and patience."

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

"Advice I would give to an incoming college freshmen is don't be afraid to try new things. College is about expanding your interests, friend groups, and finding your future career path. You'll never know what is going to get you further in the direction you need to go unless you try it."

What is one item on your bucket list and why?

"One item on my bucket list is to go on a mission trip. I have always wanted to go on one but have talked myself out of it every time. I love helping people in any way that I can, and I feel a mission trip would not only be a great impact on my life, but others as well."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Autumn!
