The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Cohen Pierce, a 2025 recipient of one of the six Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship awards.
Cohen, the son of Bethany Pierce and Jonathan Pierce, is a 2025 graduate of Galion High School. Cohen will be attending Bowling Green State University this fall and studying Environmental Science.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
"I have always been close to nature, enjoying hikes with my family and finding solace in long walks alone in the woods. I am a firm believer that nature is one of humanity's most important resources, and we really do not take anywhere near enough care of it. That is what inspired me to choose environmental science. I want to be able to work for an agency like the Peace Corps, which sends plenty of environmental scientists abroad to help foster conservation efforts and educate about the importance of environmental stewardship."
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
"After I graduate from BGSU, I hope to be able to work for the Peace Corps, working abroad in countries such as Panama or Senegal, where the impacts of climate change and improper use of nature is very prominent, helping to save natural ecosystems before they disappear."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Cohen!
