The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Isabella Stang, a 2025 recipient of one of the two John W. Brubaker, Jr. Scholarship awards and one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.
Isabella, the daughter of Dana Stang and Andrew Stang, is a 2025 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is attending Wright State University this fall and studying Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
"I have always wanted to be an engineer, like my father, since I was a little girl. I couldn't figure out what type of engineering I wanted to go into until I flew on a plane on a school trip. I was entranced by the fact that a machine that weighed literal tons could take flight. I wanted to be a part of the process that led to innovating new aircraft and pushing past perceived limits."
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
"My career goals after I graduate are to get a position either with Lockheed Martin or the United States Air Force, developing new concepts in aeronautics. I want to be able to research my designs and be a major part of the process of development, rather than working at a desk all day. A life goal of mine would be traveling. I love to travel and see or learn new things everywhere I go. I got what my teacher calls "the travel bug" on the same school trip that I found out that I wanted to go into aerospace."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Isabella!
