2025 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Jacob Jennings

Posted by Rachel Jarvis on Tue, Aug 19, 2025

Jacob JenningsThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Jacob Jennings, a 2025 scholarship recipient of the Holmes Liberty Alumni Scholarship award.

Jacob, the son of Crystal Dawn Jennings and Virgil Lee Jennings, is a 2025 graduate of Wynford High School. He is attending Cleveland State University this fall and studying Psychology.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"The reason I chose to do Psychology is because I want to use that degree to end up becoming a therapist focusing on teenage mental health. This is because that education was always a comfort for me growing up, and understanding how my brain works helped me navigate a lot of the tribulations that we all know as life. I wish to acquire more knowledge and also be able to share it with those who need it in hopes that every little bit I do can help the world become a better place."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"I am using my education in order to become a therapist that specifically focuses on teenage mental health. I chose this career because I know how much more aware the world is becoming of the importance of mental health, and I want to be a part of that change to make the world happier. Whenever people are happy, we are more productive, and hopefully, by working in and advocating for the mental health field, we can be an even more productive society than we already are. I know I am just a tiny piece on the greater board of the world, but I feel it just takes one little domino to fall in order to make a greater change happen around them."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Jacob!
