The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Keenan Sharrock, a 2025 recipient of one of the 20 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.
Keenan, the son of C. Aaron Sharrock, is a 2020 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. He is in his fifth year of a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture at The Ohio State University.
What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?
"My favorite aspect of college is the club sports that you can join. Joining them links you with peers that have the same interests as you and can lead to great friendships."
What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?
"I discovered my major, Landscape Architecture, by accident. I took a course on Architecture and discovered the world of Landscape, which is so broad and vast that I can do quite a lot with it when I become a professional."
In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?
"College has given me the flexibility to continue my education while also working. The school-work life balance has been a struggle, but it's a good learning curve for when I get a job in my field. The schoolwork just becomes work, and finding that balance between work and spending time with family or friends is a key to a happy life."
What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?
"Don't stress too much about figuring out every aspect of your life right now. Just go to class and live. Life is constantly changing- go with the flow and have fun."
What is one item on your bucket list and why?
"Graduate. 100%. I have spent six years of my life in college, and I am ready for the next step."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Keenan!
