Lily PiferThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Lily Pifer, a 2025 recipient of one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Lily, the daughter of Paula Pifer and Alan Pifer, is a 2024 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is in her first year of an Associate's Degree in Radiology at Marion Technical College.

What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?

"My favorite aspect of college life is the environment and meeting new people. I appreciate the ability to make new friends and meet new people everyday. I also find it very inspiring to meet people who share the same goals as me, allowing us to help each other reach these goals."

What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?

"Originally going into college, I was interested in pursuing Sonography. However, my first year of college has allowed me to further discover additional majors and programs my college offers. Doing this lead me to learn more about Radiology, and I have discovered that I actually prefer this major."

How has the college experience changed/improved you?

"The college experience has changed and improved me by allowing me to become more outgoing. Being surrounded by people you have never met before forces you to come out of your shell. I am very appreciative of the friends I have made so far at college, and I am looking forward to meeting more people."

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

"Advice I would give an incoming college freshman is that you do not have to have everything planned out right away. It is okay to take classes that interest you and decide what major you would like to complete as you go. Take things at your own pace. It is better to take longer to find a major that suits you rather than quickly deciding on a major you do not completely love."

What is one item on your bucket list and why?

"One item on my bucket list is to travel around the world. I think it is important to explore the world we live on and visit places we don't see everyday. I am passionate about learning more about the world around us."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Lily!
