Marissa MiddletonThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Marissa Middleton, a 2025 recipient of one of the six Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship awards and one of the two John W. Brubaker, Jr. Scholarship awards.

Marissa, the daughter of Jennifer A. Middleton and Michael G. Middleton, is a 2025 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is attending North Central State College this fall and studying Early Childhood Education.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"I chose Early Childhood Education as my major because I've always had a passion for teaching young children. I believe the early years are important to build a love for learning and a nurturing environment where they feel safe. I have done numerous babysitting jobs and can tell how much of a difference a caring and understanding person can make in a child's life. This has helped me in deciding my major and know that this is a suitable fit for my future."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"I plan to attend North Central State College for two years, then transfer to The Ohio State University in Marion to receive my bachelor's degree. After I graduate, my main focus is to become a dedicated and nurturing teacher, leading children to have a good understanding of their learning and to help them love learning. I want to create a welcoming and engaging classroom environment for my students. I plan to work in Crawford County and teach between kindergarten and third grade."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Marissa!
