The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Rosalyn Johnson, a 2025 recipient of one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.
Rosalyn, the daughter of Monica Johnson, is a 2022 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is in her fourth year of a Bachelor's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?
"My favorite aspects of college life are the friendships and relationships I've had the opportunity to grow throughout my three years at MVNU. I feel that I've been able to grow in my Christian faith because of these friendships."
What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?
"I have been able to participate in groups dedicated to my major and future career path, which have helped me to further apply the knowledge I am learning in class but also have allowed me to serve the community in Mount Vernon. I will be continuing in these groups next year as an officer. I have also pursued a music minor, which I just completed, and I will continue to take private lessons and being involved in music ensembles."
In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?
"The college experience has made me more outgoing and confident in myself. My experiences at college have allowed me to grow and mature in a lot of ways."
What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?
"I would tell an incoming freshman to get involved and make an effort to make new friends. It's easy to be intimidated in a new environment where you might not know many people. Get involved in your major and clubs, so you can meet people with the same interests as you."
What is one item on your bucket list and why?
"One item on my bucket list is to go to Europe someday. I love travelling, and I have never been that far out of the country before. I would love to experience new cultures and new experiences."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Rosalyn!
