The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Samantha Utz, a 2025 recipient of one of the five Robert Schwaderer Scholarship awards.
Samantha, the daughter of Beth Utz and Jeremy Utz, is a 2025 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. She is attending The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute and studying Agriscience Education.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
"When I think about what inspired me to choose my major, a lot of things come to mind: growing up on a multi-generational farm, being involved in 4-H as soon as I was eligible, and joining FFA in eighth grade. But the biggest influence was the welcoming and support environment I experienced in the agriculture classroom. That positive experience made me want to create the same kind of space for future students, while also getting to teach about something I truly love."
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
"After I graduate, I plan to build a career as a high school agriculture education teacher, ideally staying connected to the agricultural lifestyle I grew up with. Family is very important to me, so I would like to stay in the local area. I also hope to stay involved in organizations like FFA and 4-H to help the next generation discover their own passion for agriculture."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Samantha!
