Alexis DureThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Alexis Dure, a 2026 recipient of one of the six Arlene H. Smith Scholarship awards, one of the three Kiwanis Kahle-Wenner Scholarship awards, and one of the three Marvis Schaaf Scholarship awards.

Alexis, the daughter of Mariah Slaughter and Elisson Dure, is a 2026 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. She is attending Ashland University this fall and studying Nursing.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"I chose my major because I love helping people. My goal is to find something that I love, and I love lending a hand to others in need, so this career is perfect for me. I have many family members in the nursing field, so I have been able to shadow them and get a feel for what being a nurse would be like."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"My career goals are to become a pediatric nurse at a large children's hospital. My life goals are to be happy and enjoy the world around me."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Alexis!
