The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Brock Saam, a 2026 recipient of one of the two James E. Huggins, Sr. and Margaret M. Huggins Agricultural Scholarship awards, one of the six L. Earl Smith Scholarship awards, the Mount Zion Milton Harman Scholarship award, one of the two Nancy Angene Johnson Scholarship awards, and one of the four Wynford FFA Rising Sun Scholarship awards.
Brock, the son of Sharon Saam and Monte Saam, is a 2026 graduate of Wynford High School. He is attending The Ohio State University- ATI and studying Agriscience Education.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
"I had three very important people in my life that helped me decide to major in Agriscience Education. Mr. Mike Hoffman and Mrs. Tessa Martin, my Agricultural Educators. These teachers made a forever lasting impact on my life, knowing I didn't come from an agricultural background. They still encouraged me throughout high school to succeed in my academics and in FFA. I found my home in the Wynford FFA Chapter, I found my passion, my voice, and so much more. My advisors helped me in so many ways. I want to help kids in the same ways my advisors helped me. Lastly, Mrs. Kenzie Klamfoth, my Career Coach. Kenzie not only helped me, but also met with so many students from Wynford and Buckeye Central. She encouraged me to try something new, to open my horizons, and try something I never thought possible. Without her, I wouldn't have even thought about going to college. She opened me up to the idea of following my dream. I am forever grateful for these three individuals who helped me decide my career/major in college."
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
"My goals for my career and life after I graduate would be getting a teaching position close to home. I am very family oriented, so I would like to be close to my hometown to be around family. My goal is to give everything I have to teaching. I want to be the best teacher possible for the kids I will be teaching. I also want to become a successful teacher. I want to be the best teacher I can be, to know what I'm teaching to give my kids the best education possible. My end goal is to be a teacher at my home school Wynford. I want to serve the Chapter that gave me everything I have today."
