The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Courtney Woerlein, the 2026 recipient of the Richard E. Stearns Scholarship award.
Courtney, the daughter of Nicole Woerlein and Shawn Woerlein, is a 2024 graduate of Galion High School. She is attending Bowling Green State University and studying Music Education.
What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?
"I love getting to meet and have connections with so many people. I also enjoy all of the groups I get to be a part of on campus, such as the Falcon Marching Band."
What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?
"As a music education major, I have gotten to learn how to play a wide variety of instruments I never thought I'd learn to play."
In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?
"So far, college has made me much more outgoing and encouraged me to search for new opportunities."
What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?
"Don't be afraid to try new things and meet new people! There are so many people around you living a similar experience as you, and having a community of people that you can reach out to really helps."
What is one item on your bucket list and why?
"One item that has been on my bucket list is actually something that I get to do this upcoming January: march the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California! I'm really looking forward to marching alongside so many other groups and seeing all of the pretty rose decorations all while being on stage for the whole world to see."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Courtney!
