The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Grace Everett, a 2026 recipient of one of the 20 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.
Grace, the daughter of Marion Allen and James Everett, is a 2024 graduate of Wynford High School. She is attending The Ohio State University and studying Psychology.
What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?
"My favorite aspect of college life is the community, friendships and peers around campus. I have met some of my best friends at university, and that would not have been possible without the community at Ohio State."
What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?
"A new interest I have discovered at college is my love to play flute. I recently joined the athletic band, and I decided to give flute a try. I quickly learned that I loved to play flute more than my primary instrument, which is trumpet."
In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?
"The college experience has improved me by allowing me to build independence. I learned that in order to survive college, I had to depend on myself only to get me to class, study, and take care of myself since I did not have parents around."
What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?
"The advice I would give to incoming college freshmen would be to branch out and join extracurriculars. I think it's the best way to get involved with the college, meet new people, and have fun outside of the classroom. Plus, you can find new interests that you enjoy."
What is one item on your bucket list and why?
"One item on my bucket list is to learn a new language. While I am in college, I am taking Korean classes because I needed to fulfill the language requirement, but also to learn a different culture and language."
