2026 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Macy Deppen

Posted by Rachel Jarvis on Mon, Oct 26, 2026

Macy DeppenThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Macy Deppen, a 2026 recipient of one of the five Kenneth Cummins Scholarship awards.

Macy, the daughter of Rachel Crouse and Jason Deppen, is a 2026 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. She is attending Bowling Green State University Firelands and studying Dental Hygiene.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"What inspired me to choose dental hygiene was definitely the fact that I love keeping my teeth clean and also just teeth in general. Growing up, my dentist and hygienist always did such a good job of making me feel welcomed and also comfortable while in the chair, so my goal is to reciprocate the same thing with my clients and to meet them where they're at with their oral hygiene."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"My career and life goal after I graduate is to firstly secure a job in the dental field. I want to serve people and make everyone feel welcomed. I want everyone to know that outside of being a hygienist, I am always looking out for them and there for them if they need anything, so building that relationship will be very important to me. After I get a job, I hope to get married and start a family right away. I'm hoping to have five kids, and I will raise them to know Christ. I will be a good example of what it is like to serve others, like Jesus did for us. However, I do understand that this is not my plan and it's not in my hands."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Macy!
