The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Rosalyn Johnson, a 2026 recipient of one of the 20 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.
Rosalyn, the daughter of Monica Johnson, is a 2022 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is attending Kent State University and studying Speech Language Pathology.
What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?
"My favorite aspects of college life are the friendships I've created and the close bond I've had with people. I look forward to forming new friendships and a new community as I enter graduate school in the fall."
What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?
"Throughout the last four years, I've discovered my calling to be a speech-language pathologist. When I started out, I knew it was interesting to me, but as I kept going in my education, I realized that it was something I was meant to do. I look forward to diving deeper into the field and growing professionally and academically in graduate school."
In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?
"Throughout college, I feel I have become more confident and outgoing. Being around people that shared my beliefs and interests really helped me to come out of my shell and be more confident in who I am."
What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?
"The advice I would give to an incoming college freshman is that you will make friends. I was very scared of not knowing anyone and being in an unfamiliar place, but I left my freshman year with a really close circle of friends."
What is one item on your bucket list and why?
"One item on my bucket list is traveling to a European country. I love to travel, and I have never been that far from home before."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Rosalyn!
