The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Samantha Utz, a 2026 recipient of one of the three Robert Schwaderer Scholarship awards.
Samantha, the daughter of Beth Utz and Jeremy Utz, is a 2025 graduate of Buckeye Central. She is attending The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute and studying Agriscience Education.
What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?
"Looking back at my first year of college, one of my favorite aspects would have to be the social side of college. Going into college, everyone is trying to find their place. Having different clubs to participate in and find people of similar interests is very helpful and rewarding in the end, as many have different opportunities available."
What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?
"So far, I have had the opportunity to take many courses, all of which have been very beneficial. So far, the course that has interested me the most is my welding tech course, as I can use these skills in my own future classroom. During this course, I learned about three types of welding and was able to design and weld my own final project."
In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?
"The college experience has definitely changed me for the better. Since arriving at college, I have both grown a little bit more independent and found an amazing group of friends."
What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?
"I would tell any incoming freshman to take any opportunity given to them and never be afraid to ask questions, as the professors are always willing to help each student."
What is one item on your bucket list and why?
"One item on my bucket list is to go on a couple of trips with some of my friends and have a lot of fun in my final year at ATI!"
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Samantha!
