The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Shaylyn Hipsher, a 2026 recipient of one of the 20 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.
Shaylyn is a 2026 graduate of Galion High School. She is attending The University of Toledo and studying Early Childhood Education.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
"I have always loved working with children, and I volunteer with youth frequently within my community, and while doing so, I knew that teaching was what I wanted to do. I then job shadowed a first grade teacher in my community, and I absolutely loved it, and I knew that was what I was meant to do."
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
"After graduation, I plan to find a good district to teach in, where I plan to teach first grade while pursuing my master's degree and eventually settling down and starting a family."
