Sydney StirmThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Sydney Stirm, a 2026 recipient of one of the two Dustin T. Stover Scholarship awards, one of the two Kevin A. Binau Scholarship awards, and one of the six L. Earl Smith Scholarship awards.

Sydney, the daughter of Jennifer Stirm and Andrew Stirm, is a 2026 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. She is attending Blinn College this fall and studying Agricultural Communications and Agricultural Business.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by agriculture, but it was through showing livestock and my involvement in organizations such as 4-H and FFA that I truly developed my own passion for the industry. These activities showed me that I want to serve the agriculture industry through a career in the areas of agricultural policy, public relations, and communications. To accomplish this goal, I will obtain a dual degree in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Communications, which will best position me to successfully start my career."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"After graduating college, I aim to start my career by gaining practical knowledge and experience in the areas of agricultural policy, public relations, and communications. These early experiences will prepare me to lead policy development and advocacy efforts for a state or national agriculture organization. My ideal position would include working to bridge the gap between agricultural producers, consumers, and legislators. I intend to use my experience in agriculture to educate consumers about their food and influence agricultural policy. Using my skill set in the areas of policy, communications, and public relations, my goal is to positively impact the industry that will provide fuel, fiber, and food for generations to come. Beyond my career, I plan to prioritize a life of service by giving back to the organizations that have built me by mentoring and coaching youth in 4-H and FFA and volunteering in community organizations."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Sydney!
