Foundation Celebrates Spirit of Philanthropy

The Community Foundation for Crawford County recently celebrated their donors with a reception at the Loft at Pickwick Place. Contributors from throughout Crawford County gathered to enjoy food and socializing.

Foundation President Lisa Workman shared facts from the “Paradox of Possessions” and the website www.actionforhappiness.org. “In short,” she said, “if you want to feel good, DO good!”

Board Chair Val Sanderson presented the Foundation’s first ever Spirit of Philanthropy Award to Dr. Donald Wenner, explaining that this annual award will be presented each year to a Crawford County citizen who gives to multiple agencies with generous dollars and donated time. In Dr. Wenner’s case, his generosity over the years has included The Community Foundation for Crawford County, Bucyrus Kiwanis Club, Crawford County Council on Aging, Crawford County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, YMCA of Bucyrus, Friendship Bridge, and Bucyrus City Schools.  This is only a sampling of the number of organizations that Dr. Wenner has helped throughout his time in Crawford County.

To wrap up the evening, Justin McMullen, Foundation Board member and Chair of their Development Committee, announced that the Foundation’s annual #Giving2sday fundraiser will be held Tuesday, November 29th. Interested parties can use the power of social media to raise funds by soliciting friends and old Crawford County schoolmates after logging into https://tcf4cc.networkforgood.com and creating their own fundraising page.

In 2015, The Community Foundation for Crawford County contributed over $445,000 in gifts, grants and scholarships right here in Crawford County. The Foundation’s vision is to bridge philanthropy with causes that improve Crawford County’s quality of life.

LOVE CRAWFORD. GIVE CRAWFORD.
