The Spirit of Giving

National Community Foundation Week

Posted by Liz Dolan on Thu, Nov 12, 2015

This week (Nov. 12-18) is Community Foundation Week around the country. Community Foundation Week was created in 1989 by former president George H.W. Bush. It recognizes the work of community foundations throughout America and their collaborative approach to working with the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to address community issues. Our work succeeds because people like you believe in building a strategic legacy that will impact future generations.

Community foundations are independent, plublic entities that steward philanthropic resources from institutional and individual donors to local nonprofts that are the heart of strong, vibrant communities. If you look around Crawford County, you will see many things that would not be here without the support of The Community Foundation for Crawford County. The physical things present in Crawford County, from the Murals, Fountain, Playscape at Aumiller Park, to Lowe Volk Park and many others, they represent just a small portion of the work we do as a Community Foundation.

"Communikty foundations impact lives, solve problems, and improve futures, "said Foundation President Lisa Workman. "As many local organizations grapple with limited resources and a growing need for services, we are more determined than ever to bring our community partners together to find innovative and effective solutions for ouor most challenging social problems."We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to our success, and we look forward to growing our work together! Thanks for a great 2015!

Please remember that our annual Match Day fundraiser occurs on the first Tuesday of December. This year our Match Day takes place on December 1st. You can take advantage of having your donation matched by a portion of up to $25,000; last year each donation was matched 0.50 cents for each dollar donated!
