Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship

The Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship was established in 2010 to help Crawford County students as they pursue their goals of higher education at the college level. Students from any Crawford County High School are eligible to apply.

Crawford Forward Scholarship

The Crawford County Young Professionals (CCYP) established the Crawford Forward Scholarship in 2015 to be awarded to a current Crawford County resident working toward an Associate's or Bachelor's degree from a college or university in Crawford or surrounding counties.

Daryl E. Stucky Memorial Scholarship

The Daryl Stucky Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of Daryl E. Stucky, a life-long resident of Crawford County. Mr. Stucky spent his adult life as a farmer and retired after 20 years as an employee at BuE Comp.-Lykens, Ohio. Mr. Stucky loved to attend the sporting events of his grandchildren and understood the importance of continuing education beyond high school. Graduating seniors of Wynford High School with a minimum GPA of 2.5  and evidence of community service are encouraged to apply. An essay providing community service is required for this scholarship.

Dr. Laurie Anne Rhodebeck Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Laurie Anne Rhodebeck Memorial Scholarship was established by the Friends of the Crawford Park District in memory of Dr. Laurie Anne Rhodebeck. Applicants can be entering any level of their educational attainment, attending any college, university, technical or vocational school, and entering any field of study.  Preference is given to those studying environmental sciences or other studies that correlate with the mission of the Crawford Park District and to those who can display community services activities. An essay on the environment is required. This scholarship is renewable for the entire time a student is in school as long as they reapply each year.

Dustin T. Stover Memorial Scholarship

Named in honor of Dustin T. Stover, this scholarship is given to two graduating seniors, one at Colonel Crawford High School and one at Wynford High School, going on to any type of further education.  Recipients are selected based solely on their essay prompted by several questions related to inspiration.

Holmes Liberty Alumni Scholarship

The Holmes Liberty Alumni Scholarship was established in 2013 to help graduating students of Wynford High School who might not otherwise consider any further formal education beyond high school. Students who have a special appreciation for assistance they have received and those who exhibit a strong desire to improve themselves and/or contribute to the well-being of others are especially encouraged to apply. Must be a graduating senior of Wynford High School who resided in Wynford School District while attending Wynford.  Preference is given to individuals who exhibit a desire to improve themselves or contribute to the well-being of others.

James E. Huggins, Sr. and Margaret M. Huggins Agricultural Scholarship

Started in 1999 in honor of James E. Huggins, Sr. and Margaret M. Huggins, this scholarship is available to any graduate of a Crawford County High School. Students must be entering an accredited institution of higher education in an agricultural-related program, either at the graduate or undergraduate level. Preference is given to those who can show financial need and scholastic merit. This scholarship is renewable for an additional year, but applicants must reapply and be chosen.

John W. Brubaker, Jr. Scholarship

This scholarship is named in honor of Bucyrus High School Chemistry and Physics teacher, John W. Brubaker, Jr.  Graduating seniors from Bucyrus High School with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and pursuing a degree in a science or education related field that demonstrates a contagious love of learning areis eligible to apply. Preference is given to those who are attending The College of Wooster, Muskingum College, or Case Western Reserve University.

Joseph M. Salvati Scholarship

Joseph M. Salvati was born in Shelby on August 11, 1983 and graduated from Crestline High School in 2002.  He was an outstanding athlete while at Crestline and is rememberd as an athlete who led by example rather than with words.  He was a leader by his actions and will always be remembered for that.  He was also a family-oriented person and dedicated to his faith.  He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.  His life was cut short by a fatal accident and he died on August 14, 2002.  The Scholarship was set up to memorialize this outstanding young man.  This scholarship is no longer available.

Kenneth Cummins Scholarship

The Kenneth Cummins Scholarship was transferred to the CF4CC in 2016. It was established to express a sense of gratitude for Dr. Cummins for his gift of teaching the concepts of chemistry and mathematics to students, as well as conveying the thrill of learning to others. This scholarship is specifically designed to help graduating students of, or students who have already graduated from, Buckeye Central High School.

Kiwanis Kahle-Wenner Scholarship

The Kiwanis Kahle-Wenner Scholarship was transferred to the CF4CC in 2016. This scholarship honors Dr. Donald Wenner and Mr. Bill Kahle, long-time members of the Bucyrus Kiwanis Club.  Graduating seniors of Colonel Crawford, Bucyrus, Wynford, and Wayside Christian High School are encouraged to apply. Preference is given to students who can display financial need and to those who are entering the fields of forestry, health care or computer science. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Bucyrus Kiwanis Club.

Larry Schiefer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Larry E. Schiefer, a beloved father, grandfather, and teacher. Larry taught business and accounting for many years at Wynford High School and was very passionate about the importance of education. One scholarship annually will be awarded to a graduating senior of Wynford High School. An essay providing evidence of community service and a minimum 2.5 grade point average is required for this scholarship.

Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship

The Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship has been established in honor of Dr. Donald Wenner and his wife, Margaret.  This scholarship was generously started by Dr. Wenner so that twenty $2,000 scholarships can be awarded annually to Crawford County high school graduates or graduating seniors who want to further their education. Applicants may be entering any level of their academic attainment including graduate school. Preference is given to graduates or graduating seniors of Bucyrus High School and to those who display financial need. This scholarship is renewable for all the years of a student’s educational attainment, but applicants must reapply and be chosen each year.

Marvis Schaaf Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Marvis Ann Schaaf, a generous member of several organizations in Crawford County. Marvis generously provided for this scholarship in her will, so a $3,500.00 will be awarded to two graduates of any Crawford County high school. Recipients of this scholarship will be chosen based upon the student's financial need and their academic qualifications.

Merle and Peg Hutson Scholarship

The Merle and Peg Hutson Scholarship is named in memory of “Coach” Merle Hutson, beloved football coach and educator for many years at Crestline High School, and his wife, Peg. This scholarship is available to any senior graduating from Crestline High School.

Mount Zion Milton Harmon Scholarship

The Mount Zion Milton Harman Scholarship was created in honor of Milton Harman, a long time Superintendent of Mount Zion School. The alumni of Mount Zion created the $1,000 scholarship to be awarded annually to a Wynford High School graduate who has completed the first half/semester of their first year at an accredited college, university or trade school.

Nancy Angene Johnson Scholarship

The Nancy Angene Johnson Scholarship was established in 2016 in honor of Nancy Angene Johnson. Applications are open to graduating students of Wynford High School planning to attend any college or university. Students who graduated not more than six years earlier from Wynford High School may also apply. Students who display a strong desire to continue their education are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students who are 1) entering Bluffton University or any campus of The Ohio State University, 2) intending to pursue the field of elementary or secondary education, with the intent of teaching in the public school system, and 3) can display financial need (e.g. evidence of student loans)

Noah Skylar Lear Scholarship

The Noah Skylar Lear Scholarship is named in memory of Noah Skylar Lear, a Bucyrus High School student who passed away in 2016. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who is graduating from (or graduated from) any Crawford County school. The applicant can be entering any level of their educational attainment (i.e. graduating senior, first semester of 1st year, 1st semester of 2nd year, etc.). This scholarship may be awarded repeatedly to the same individual, provided the student has reapplied and is deemed most worthy of that year's applicant pool.

Pry Scholarship

The Pry Scholarship was established in honor of retired Executive Director of The Community Foundation for Crawford County, Janet P. Pry.

With over 30 years of combined experience as both a volunteer and the executive director of the foundation, Janet understands the struggles students face as they navigate the time and monetary commitment necessary for a post-secondary education.  The intent of this scholarship is to help the non-traditional student improve their life through continuing education.

This scholarship is intended for students attending North Central State College at the Crawford Success Center. The student should be a graduate of any Crawford County High School, Pioneer Vocational School, or Tri-Rivers Vocational School OR has been a resident of Crawford County for a minimum of three years.  The student should have graduated from high school at least one year prior to their application for this scholarship. In addition, a short essay explaining why the student is seeking this scholarship and how education will improve their life is required. Proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate is also required. The scholarship may be renewed via re-application the entire time the student is in school. The recipient for this scholarship will be selected by the Crawford County Young Professionals' scholarship committee.

Richard A. Miller Scholarship

The Richard A. Miller Scholarship Fund was established in honor of a vibrant young man, Richard (Dick) A. Miller, who lost his battle to multiple sclerosis at the age of 29.  The Crestline class of 1982 established this scholarship following his passing in 1994.

In high school, Dick was extremely active in multiple extracurricular activities, from National Honor Society and choir to football, basketball and tennis, all while being an straight A student. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Applied Math and Computer Sciences. In 2005, Dick was inducted into the Crestline Athletic Hall of Fame, and his football jersey (#90) was retired in 1994. The Crestline High School tennis courts are named in his memory. 

Graduating seniors of Crestline High School with a minimum GPA of 3.0 that exhibit a high level of character, work ethic, and a strong commitment to community service are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students who participated in a minimum of 3 extracurricular activities. An essay is required for this scholarship.

Richard E. Stearns Scholarship

The Richard E. Stearns Scholarship Fund has been established in honor of retired Crawford County elementary education teacher, Richard E. Stearns. Mr. Stearns generously started this scholarship so that $1,000 can be awarded annually to a Crawford County high school graduate who is entering his or her junior or senior level at an accredited institution of higher learning, with a major in an educational or medical field of study.

Robert Schwaderer Scholarship

The Robert Schwaderer Scholarship was transferred to the CF4CC in 2016. This scholarship is specifically designed to help graduating students of, or students who have already graduated from, Buckeye Central High School. Students may apply during any level of their educational attainment. Applicants must be pursuing an agricultural field of study at either The Ohio State University OR OSU's Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) in Wooster, Ohio.

Rollie and Esther Wilson Scholarship

The Rollie and Esther Wilson Scholarship was established in 2015 by the Rollie and Esther Wilson family.  Rollie and Esther Wilson were happily married for 67 years, until the passing of Esther in 2012.  Rollie subsequently passed away in 2017.  This scholarship honors the memory of Esther and Rollie and commemorates Rollie’s dedication to the Colonel Crawford Girls Softball program.  For many years, Rollie operated the scoreboard and raised the flag at the Colonel Crawford High School Girls' Softball team games. One scholarship is awarded annually to a FEMALE athlete (particularly female SOFTBALL players) graduating from Colonel Crawford High School. Samuel Neff Fellowship for International Study Scholarship

The Neff Fellowship is intended for any Crawford County high school student, or graduate of any Crawford County high school, that is pursuing an educational experience outside the United States. Preference is given to Bucyrus students or graduates, applicants traveling to an area other than Western Europe, and to those who can show financial need. Exchange programs set up by other organizations, like Rotary or college semesters abroad, are applicable for this award.

The Campbell Scholarship is named in honor of Colonel Crawford High School teacher, Susan Campbell. Any student from Colonel Crawford High School exhibiting high academic standards and a strong commitment to community service are eligible to apply.

The Tyler Niese Memorial Scholarship

The Niese Scholarship is named in memory of Tyler Niese, a young man from Buckeye Central High School who passed away in 2016.  Graduating seniors from Buckeye Central High School are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students who have had to overcome some educational or life situational hardship. The recipients for this scholarship are selected by the Buckeye Central School's scholarship committee.
