The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation is proud to introduce a new scholarship application process!  This new process enables students to save their application and finish it at a later time, if necessary.  It also allows teachers and counselors to submit required documents, as well as recommendations, via a secure web site.  Applications will be accepted through April 1, 2013. 

The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation and the Crawford County Teen Institute program have partnered to announce the availability of a $1,000 grant available to the non profit agencies, schools, and municipalities in Crawford County.  

The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation held its Annual Meeting at the Bucyrus Public Library on Thursday, October 4, 2012.  Several community members also took advantage of the opportunity to visit the Foundation for a tour of the facility.

The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce the 2012 Scholarship Winners. Each year, the BACF awards scholarships to Crawford County students who have exceled in academics, athletics and community service.

The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation will hold its Annual Meeting in the A/B Meeting Room at the Bucyrus Public Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 4.

What began with the simple question of “What can we do help?” from a wife to her husband has resulted in the completion of a major fundraising initiative in Bucyrus. After hearing a presentation from Bucyrus Police Chief Ken Teets about the department’s K-9 unit during a Bucyrus Rotary meeting in February, Fred and Jackie Hendricks decided they needed to do something to help the Bucyrus Police Department secure the funds for Amigo’s replacement.

Over 10 years ago, two Bucyrus residents approached City Council with an idea to make the city a better place. The proposal to City Council, which was presented by Mr. Bill Leitzy and Dr. Ide, was for the construction of a bridge that would allow access to Aumiller Park and Unger Park from Southern Avenue. The two men saw a need for the bridge because of safety issues for people trying to get to the park. With the assistance of Jim Burris and Russell Fling, an architect and engineer respectively, a plan was developed for a wooden cable suspension bridge spanning the Sandusky River.

Highly trained dogs, often referred to as Police Service Dogs (PSD), are used in support of local law enforcement, working side-by-side with police officers in fighting crime. Dogs have one of the most acute senses for smell of any animal. These dogs can be trained for specialized duties or multi-purpose tasks. Their size, speed and natural canine senses give these four-legged animals the ability to carry out jobs that their human teammates cannot.

The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce the grant allocation for the first half of the year 2012 totaling more than $245,000.  During the first granting cycle this year, the BACF awarded grants in two categories: Competitive Grants and Multi-Year Grants.
