Community Foundation Celebrates an Evening of Philanthropy

The Community Foundation for Crawford County thanked their donors with an Evening of Philanthropy last week at the Aspen Terrace Clubhouse in Galion. Contributors from throughout Crawford County gathered to enjoy food, drinks and socializing.

Annual Meeting for The Community Foundation for Crawford County Held Last Week

The Community Foundation for Crawford County held its annual meeting and celebration event last week at the Trillium Event Center in Bucyrus. Opening comments were made by Lisa Workman, President of the Foundation, to a crowd of about 77. Attendees learned about the book, “New Power” and listened to a video of its author, Henry Timms, who also created the international day of philanthropy and kindness known as #GivingTuesday. Workman encouraged the crowd to “take off our letterman jackets and harness the connections of our larger, Crawford County crowd.” She applauded local efforts that have produced an increase in Crawford County’s 20-29 age group population, as well as a 2% increase in the county’s education attainment level.

TCF4CC and NCSC Celebrate Education and Student Success

The Community Foundation for Crawford County and the Crawford Success Center of North Central State College (NCSC) recently collaborated on an evening to celebrate education and student achievement. Opening comments were made by Lisa Workman, President of the Foundation, Dr. Dorey Diab, President of NCSC, and Amanda Sheets, Operations Manager of the Crawford Success Center to a crowd of about 70 who gathered last Thursday evening at the Crawford Success Center. Attendees learned that the educational attainment level in Crawford County has increased by 2% in the last three years, and that many scholarships that are available are no longer just for graduating high school seniors.

$227,500 Awarded in Local Grants

The Community Foundation for Crawford County recently awarded over $227,500 in competitive grants to local charitable organizations and schools.

Community grants went to the following:

• Acres of Adventure, Inc. - $10,000 towards a Crawford County water quality learning area

• Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio - $5,000 towards overnight stays for Crawford County families with ill children

• American Red Cross of North Central Ohio - $5,100 to support home fire relief and disaster victims in Crawford County
