A week from today on Dec. 1st, we observe #GivingTuesday not only locally but globally to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity. Our Foundation’s annual event is #Giving2sday. Did you know that every donation on #Giving2sday generates an additional donation to the fund(s) of the donor's choice? It’s no joke – it’s true. The Foundation has set aside $25,000 to distribute to our participating funds on a pro-rated basis. We are also pleased to announce that this year, The Mason Companies, our investment manager, is contributing an additional $2,500 to this pool for a total of $27,500. In order to be eligible to receive the second donation, checks must be dated 12/1/20. However, every donation made ONLINE from NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 1, 2020 is automatically eligible. For more details about #Giving2sday or to make a donation, visit our website https://cfcrawford.networkforgood.com or donate from your mobile phone by texting GIVE to 419-298-5569. #Giving2sday #LoveCrawfordGiveCrawford #TCF4CC #GivingTuesday

Have you seen the gorgeous hanging flower baskets lining Sandusky Avenue through downtown Bucyrus? If not, make sure you take notice the next time you walk or drive through town.
Pictured to the right are Harold and Marylyn Strang, two of the more than 40 volunteers that water these lovely baskets throughout the late spring, summer, and early fall. Harold is driving the new Bucyrus Beautification project watering tractor that was purchased thanks to funding provided by the John Q Shunk Foundation, Tractor Supply Company in Bucyrus, and the Walmart Foundation.

On Tuesday, May 5, The Community Foundation for Crawford County kicked off #GivingTuesdayNow, joining a global day of giving held specifically for the COVID-19 crisis response. Typically, there is only one #GivingTuesday in a calendar year, and it always occurs on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving; however, organizers felt an additional effort was needed this year to raise money for operational expenses during these uncertain and challenging times.
Here locally, the Foundation referred to their 2-day online fundraising event as #Giving2sdayNow. The Foundation provided the fundraising platform, and any nonprofit could register and use the site at no cost to them. In addition, the Foundation matched the first $25,000 raised online, and this match was increased to $35,000 thanks to the generosity of Doug and Renee Leuthold. The Foundation also covered all credit card fees.

The Foundation would like to thank all those involved with making #Giving2sdayNow a success. It is amazing to see the strength of our community when it comes together for a cause. Preliminary results show that our community managed to raise more than $57,700 online in just two days during these uncertain and difficult times to help our local nonprofits. Astonishingly, this total doesn’t even include the $35,000 in matching funds. If you add the matching money, more than $92,700 will be distributed directly back to the participating nonprofits for operating expenses!
