Sara, the daughter of Thomas Nolen and Laurie Locey, is a 2005 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is attending the Crawford Success Center, a satellite of the North Central State College located in Bucyrus, and will be in the new LPN program this fall. In her spare time, Sara is an avid reader and loves spending time with her family and five kids. Her dream vacation would be a trip to Scotland.

Sara was inspired to go back to college because of the location of the education she could get. “I have been an STNA for over 10 years,” she explained. “I never considered going to college until the Crawford Success Center offered LPN classes. With the classes available so close to home, it seemed reachable. Once I met Amanda [Amanda Sheets, Operations Manager at the Crawford Success Center], it was like the sky was limitless. I owe a large portion of success to Amanda and especially my husband and kids. Anyone can go to college, but it takes having a really great group of people around you and in your life to help keep you going and motivated to finish what you started.” After graduating, Sara plans to “stay at my current job at TLC in Crestline [while] looking into doctor’s offices. I have several friends that work at a doctor’s office, and it seems like a great atmosphere to work in. I also would like to get my phlebotomist license.”

When asked to describe what she is enjoying most at college right now, Sara stated, “Learning all the new information and meeting new people.”

Sara’s advice to any non-traditional students contemplating taking college classes: “Nothing comes easy, but hard things come with great rewards.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Sara!
