2020 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Mackenzie Byers

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Mackenzie Byers, a 2020 recipient of one of the seventeen Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards.

Byers, MackenzieMackenzie, the daughter of Tammy Moore, is a 2014 graduate of Crestline High School. She will be entering her second year of an associate degree in radiologic services at North Central State College this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“My favorite aspect of college life is being able to make my own schedule and learning skills that I will use for my future career.”

Would you say most of your learning comes from inside or outside of the classroom?

“Most of my learning comes from both inside and outside the classroom. Inside the classroom I learn skills to use at clinical, and at clinical I learn from the technologists.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“A new interest I have discovered while in college is that I would also like to continue on into a program for sonography after graduating from the radiology program.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“The college experience has made me have more patience and be more goal-oriented.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“My advice to an incoming college freshman is to join clubs, meet people, and make school a priority.”
