Moritz, ZacharyThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Zachary Moritz, a 2020 recipient of one of the nine Glen and Alice Beers Scholarship awards.

Zachary, the son of Troy and Lynette Moritz, is a 2019 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. He will be entering his second year of a bachelor’s degree in business finance at The Ohio State University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“My favorite aspect is how large the university is. I meet new people every day I am on campus. It is certainly helping me with my networking skills.”

Would you say most of your learning comes from inside or outside of the classroom?

“Most of it comes from outside the lecture. Lectures just give you material. Learning comes from outside discussion on the material.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“I took a German culture class that was out of my comfort zone but ended up being one of my favorite classes. I also took a skydiving class and joined the OSU paintball team.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“It has made me more independent.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“I would advise freshmen to get out of their comfort zone and talk to as many people as possible. You want familiar faces everywhere.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Zachary!
