Corinne BoryczkaMrs. Corinne Boryczka believed in working hard and followed this principle her entire life of 101 years. Born in Bucyrus in 1900, Mrs. Boryczka, an elegant and petit lady, died in March of 2002 leaving generous donations to many service and professional agencies in the Bucyrus area, including the Bucyrus Area Community Foundation. Both she, and her husband Adam, whom she married in the 1920s, loved to work and developed the Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum into a leading force in the community. Mr. Boryczka was the editor of the paper and Mrs. Boryczka was the manager.

A Life of Work and Service

Corinne, as many knew her in the community, began work straight out of high school when she could get the trolly at 6:30am to go to her secretarial position at a raincoat manufacturer in Galion. After a few years, she returned to work for Rieddell, a manufacturing company in Bucyrus, and then on to a secretarial position with the Telegraph-Forum.

Corinne participated in various activities in the Bucyrus community and especially enjoyed being an active member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for many years. Corinne loved animals of many kinds including her cat, but also enjoyed visits to Sea World to see the dolphins. A close friend, Helen Neff, also recalls a time when her father set up a special elephant ride for Corinne.

Demonstrating this ongoing love of animals, Mrs. Boryczka had been a frequent visitor and benefactor of the Crawford County Humane Society. Corinne also helped individuals in the community who could no longer do things for themselves, visiting friends in the hospital and spending time with them. In her neighborhood, she was known as "the cookie lady"!

A Legacy for the Future

The legacy of Mrs. Corinne Boryczka, a smart engaging business woman, demonstrates the breadth of one person's contributions which will be felt in the Bucyrus community for many years to come.
