The Community Foundation for Crawford County is offering funding for non-profit organizations that have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Other than a few grant requests, our Board has decided that this year we will be redirecting our normal grant monies towards alleviating impact from the COVID-19 crisis,” explained Lisa Workman, the Foundation’s President. “This will be our approach until further notice, as we know this event will be occurring in phases and will continue uncovering ongoing emerging needs.” She added that grant applications which had been submitted for the regular grant cycle have been paused indefinitely.

From 2015 to 2018, Crawford County saw an increase in post-high school educational attainment levels of working-age residents (ages 25-64) of 5.42 percentage points, from 23.08% to 28.5%. That’s according to data gathered from the Lumina Foundation, the U.S. Census Bureau Quick Facts, and American Community Survey.
“This speaks volumes for how important it was that we worked with North Central State College to get the Crawford Success Center open in 2015,” explained Lisa Workman, President of The Community Foundation for Crawford County. “We have also really expanded our scholarship offerings to make education more affordable and attainable, and increased scholarships for current college students to keep them in school.”

For the 6th year, The Community Foundation for Crawford County held their annual fundraiser, #Giving2sday, on the global day of giving that occurred this year on December 3rd.
“This was our best year yet,” exclaimed Jennifer Stirm, Foundation Board member and Chair of their Development Committee. “Donors like knowing that their gift inspired a second one, as our Board set aside $25,000 to distribute to our participating funds on a pro-rated basis. Crawford County may have a small population, but it is large when it comes to generosity!” The preliminary tally of $177,400 which donors raised combined with the Foundation Board’s commitment means that $202,400 is being distributed to good causes in Crawford County.

The Community Foundation for Crawford County Annual Fundraiser 12.3.19
Posted by Amy Vaughn on Fri, Nov 15, 2019
For the fifth year, The Community Foundation for Crawford County is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media. To counter Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it is always celebrated the 1st Tuesday after Thanksgiving – which this year falls on December 3. Since participants are welcome to embrace the day and make it their own, the Foundation calls it “#Giving2sday” as their Board sets aside a lump sum of money from which a second gift is generated for each donation. The “2” in the title is to help donors remember that their gift will inspire a second one.
