The Community Foundation for Crawford County recently thanked their donors with an Evening of Philanthropy at the new home of the Crestline Historical Society at 400 S. Scott Street, Crestline, Ohio. Contributors from around Crawford County braved the cold weather to gather and enjoy food, drinks, socializing, and tours of the museum.
The 2019 Spirit of Philanthropy Award was presented by Foundation Board Chair, Dr. Pete Maynard, and President, Lisa Workman, via a surprise video to this year’s recipient, Tom Holtshouse, who was unable to attend. For the fifth year, The Community Foundation for Crawford County is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media. To counter Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it is always celebrated the 1st Tuesday after Thanksgiving – which this year falls on December 3. Since participants are welcome to embrace the day and make it their own, the Foundation calls it “#Giving2sday” as their Board sets aside a lump sum of money from which a second gift is generated for each donation. The “2” in the title is to help donors remember that their gift will inspire a second one.

Shown here are two volunteer board members of the non-profit organization Projects, Inc, Mike Hoffman, President, and Ken Cameron, along with Dick Hulsmeyer, a volunteer, as they recently worked to clean and shut down the fountain. “We are fortunate that each year Advanced Fiber Technology graciously stores the fountain cover when it is not in use,” said Ken Cameron. “Phil and Leonard, Advanced Fiber Technology employees, were allowed time to haul the cover uptown and helped us install it over the fountain for winter.”
